The YFL provides an Opening Day Celebration for all League participants to allow everyone in the league to build and grow relationships in a fun, social environment. The event is held at a local park and includes lots of food & fun for the kids. The adults get to participate in a softball tournament (and/or basketball), chess, a little card playing , and a few challenges at dominoes. The Cheer Squads from the various organizations also give their initial performances for the year and try to lead their teams to victory in the "Most Spirit Award" Contest. There are also lots of prize giveaways.
